Shafira is the daughter of first-generation parents who immigrated from Indonesia, a nation rich in biodiversity and cultural traditions, including the practice of traditional medicine, which is still widely used today. Coming from a background that utilizes herbal medicine and bodywork as a form of complementary medicine, it was no surprise that she stepped forth into Queensborough Community College to pursue massage therapy. Shafira demonstrates an instinctive passion and approach to massage, with curiosity and an intentional desire to explore through the layers of tissue to promote healing of both mind and body.
Growing up in Harlem, a neighborhood of cultural history and its contribution to music, art, literature, and civil rights, Shafira developed a passion for the arts and the good of the people. A painter, sculptor, digital artist, and an explorer of a multitude of art mediums, Shafira developed a confident, firm touch that might very well feel like you’re being molded under her hands! For that reason, her most liked modality is deep tissue massage, with slow, deliberate strokes and compressive knuckle or forearm pressure that will have you going “ahhhh”.

Shafira asked and adjusted her pressure to my liking and addressed the muscles that I requested to be worked on. I left the massage feeling much relief and had more moment in my hips and legs. My legs felt the best than they have in a while. I recommend.
