Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a thousand year old system of Chinese medicine that uses small thin disposable metal needles to stimulate or disperse points in the skin that lay along discovered bio-energetic pathways within the body. These pathways are said to have “Qi”, the body’s vital energy. The pathways are like rivers that flow through the body that irrigate and nourish its organs and tissues. These rivers can have blockages that occur similar to dams blocking the flow of a river. Specific points are manipulated to move the obstructions and induce the body’s own innate healing energy to return the body to a more balanced state of well-being.

Acupuncture has been effectively used for the treatment of pain and musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, headache, migraine, and sports injuries. However, acupuncture provides more than pain relief. It is helpful in treating anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, menstrual problems, weight control, infertility and much, much more. According to WHO (World Health Organization) acupuncture is effective for treating 28 conditions, while evidence indicates it may have an effective therapeutic value for many more.

Your initial evaluation will use traditional Chinese diagnostics to take a snap shot of your “whole” condition and how your system is operating on a molecular, chemical, and energetic level. Our acupuncturists use two different approaches. One combines the use of western “trigger point” theory and the other focuses on identifying constitutional patterning. Either option is available in your treatment that will be administered with tender care to help nourish your physical and energetic well-being.
